Our Story: From One Chauffeur Ride to Bud’s Cab
A profession discovered by accident, understood over time and eventually turned into a company built around service, discretion and a genuine passion for cars.
Bud’s Cab is a Bucharest-based premium chauffeur company providing private airport transfers, corporate transportation, private aviation transfers, hotel guest transport, hourly chauffeur hire, events and selected intercity journeys across Romania with a growing company-owned fleet and employed professional chauffeurs.
THE MOMENT
“This is not simply transportation.”
My first real encounter with a professional chauffeur service was in 2010. Until then, private transportation meant what it meant for most people: taxis and conventional car services. I knew how to get from one place to another, but I had never really thought about the experience around the journey.
That changed after one chauffeur ride. I was genuinely impressed. The way the service was delivered, the attention to detail, the behaviour of the chauffeur, the atmosphere inside the car – everything felt completely different from what I had been used to. I remember thinking: this is not simply transportation. And I became fascinated by it.

THE DECISION
Almost a Year Before I Had the Courage to Try
Being impressed by something and deciding to make it part of your own life are two very different things. At the time, there was very little information available about the chauffeur profession, especially in Romania. It was difficult to understand the standards, the etiquette and even what truly separated a professional chauffeur from a driver.
There was another obstacle as well. My main profession had been television since 1998, and television is still an important part of my life today. For almost a year I kept asking myself what people around me would think. Would they understand what a chauffeur actually does? Or would they simply say: “So now you’re a taxi driver?”
It may sound insignificant today, but at the time it mattered to me. Eventually, curiosity won. I decided to start working as a chauffeur part-time.
THE PROFESSION
What Does “Chauffeur” Actually Mean?
The months passed, the journeys accumulated and something unexpected happened. I became better at it. More importantly, I genuinely enjoyed it. My everyday professional life was fast, noisy and often unpredictable. Chauffeur work was completely different. It demanded concentration, discipline and responsibility, but at the same time it gave me a certain sense of calm.

The vehicle matters. But the service matters more.
Being a chauffeur is not about owning an expensive car and driving someone from A to B.
THE COMPANY
From Chauffeur to Bud’s Cab
In the beginning, I never imagined building a company of this scale. For years, I simply continued learning the profession. But the more experience I gained, the more frustrated I became with parts of the transportation industry.
I saw premium cars without premium service. I saw the word chauffeur being used as a marketing label rather than a professional standard. And slowly I started thinking that perhaps we could build something different.
In 2020, that idea became much more serious. We added four more vehicles. In 2023, another six joined the fleet. After that, the company continued to grow gradually. Cars were only one part of that growth. A great deal of my attention went into chauffeur training, presentation, communication and creating a service where the client knows what to expect before the journey begins.
That philosophy became Bud’s Cab.

I do not want to say that Bud’s Cab has already reached everything I want it to become. It hasn’t. And perhaps that is a good thing. There is still a great deal I want to improve. But I also see the market changing.

They want to know who is picking them up, what vehicle will arrive and what they are going to pay. And sometimes they simply want to travel differently: arrive at an airport without thinking about parking, leave an important meeting knowing that the car is already outside, enjoy an evening without worrying about driving home, welcome a business guest properly, or have someone waiting after a long flight who already knows where they are going.
Together, these details are what a chauffeur service is supposed to be.
More Than Cars
I have always loved cars. That passion certainly played an important role in the development of Bud’s Cab. But over time I learned that a beautiful Mercedes, BMW, Volvo or Lexus is only the visible part of the service.
